Food and music have always had a special connection. During this horrific pandemic, that relationship is even more important. The music industry has suffered a devastating blow due to COVID-19. Touring professionals and venue staff are only paid when there is live music and most have been out of work since March with no end in sight. People who have provided us with joy and music for decades are now unsure of how they will pay rent or get their next meal. With this special program reaching from the industry we know and love to one we cherish and support, we employ some of the most renowned chefs in Los Angeles, Nashville, Chicago and New York to feed the music industry and employ the music industry to help us get meals to their peers. We believe culinary and music professionals are family. We can work together to lessen the burden our industries are facing.

Touring is all I have ever known as a career. My husband is 48 and has been touring for 25 years. Because of to the COVID-19 pandemic, I was sent home early from tour and forced to go on unemployment.
Our unemployment is $222 a week. I had a deferment on almost all credit cards and bills. We were able to get by with the basic utilities and some groceries. We did get a lot of our food from food banks when we were on lockdown to help save.
-LJ, 35

I am a front of house engineer that is passionate about mixing and taking people away from their real life burdens for just a few hours to enjoy an amazing show and make lasting memories. I have been profoundly humbled this year and working on finding silver linings after my material world has crumbled. I lost my half of a home that I sunk my life savings into due to falling behind on payments.
While it’s painful to write this and realize the enormity of this situation, I am grateful to have my health. I know this too shall pass, but damn it’s been a long hard road.
-Steve, 56

For this program, touring professionals, musicians and chefs are uniting to shine a spotlight on the live music crews and other specialists who deserve our attention. The Touring Professionals Alliance in partnership with the LEE Initiative is collaborating with some of the most renowned chefs in Los Angeles, Nashville, Chicago and New York to provide crew with a quality, chef-driven dinner for their family.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think that we would lose our entire industry because of a pandemic, and just like that, overnight. – LJ, Production coordinator
