Katy Schmid
Katy Schmid is the Senior Executive Officer of National Programs at The Arc of the United States, which is one of the largest and oldest national organizations focused on supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families. Katy leads the National Programs team and serves as a key organizational leader, collaborating directly with the CEO and senior leadership on the furthering the mission of The Arc and expanding programmatic partnerships that empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to live fully inclusive lives. She is a leader in engaging and partnering with large corporate foundations and research teams at various universities across the country. A proud Longwood University alum, she holds both undergraduate and master’s degrees from the institution, as well as professional certificates from Georgetown and Harvard. Her work has been featured by National Public Radio (NPR), NBC, Forbes, The Journal of Mental Health Research in Intellectual Disabilities and the US Department of Education.
A lifelong learner at heart, she is driven by a love for education and a curiosity for exploring food and culture, believing that the most meaningful lessons are often shared around a dinner table.
